Summer Camp England
Summer Memories
What a summer! After two wonderful weeks, Session Three and the Village Camps summer have come to an end and it's time for everyone to go home.
It was an emotional night, our first departure boarding taxis early in the morning and the rest continuing throughout the night and day. Most campers stayed up all night with their friends, catching a few minutes of sleep in hallways, in common rooms, in counsellors' laps and so on. By 2:00 in the afternoon, the campus was quiet as all of the campers had left, and so came the time to reflect.
What with the endless flow of activities and games, it is often impossible to sit down and reflect on our time at Village Camps. Now that we are all home, presumably in a much quieter environment, we can finally look back on the two weeks; the highs, the lows, the laughter and the tears. No matter how lonely and empty it may feel after the constant commotion and hubbub, the memories forged throughout the two weeks will stay with us and keep us company. No matter how difficult it is to truly explain to family and friends the joys and friendships at the core of Village Camps York, we can be comforted by the fact that we all share the same memories and efeelings. No matter how far we must travel, York is now a home to all campers and counsellors. Every year, our Village Camps family grows, evolves and stays strong. It is our rock, it is what makes it so hard to leave but so, so exciting to return.
So - most of us having already made plans to meet again next year - we all return to real life, to our families, our schools, our jobs, ready to bring back exciting stories to share when we are reunited next summer.
Village Camps, it has been a spectacular summer. With our minds full of memories and friends, the countdown until next summer begins now!
