Ride along white sandy beaches and on sheltered trails through pine forests.
Summer Riding Camp | Spain | Programme Overview
Andalusia is famous for the ‘Andalusian horse’, one of the oldest and most pure breeds in the world. The admiration for the ‘Andalusian’ is the basis of the love for horses and horse-riding in Andalusia, a tradition that has encouraged us to offer a new horse-riding camp at our resort of Chiclana de la Frontera, opened in summer 2016. Of course, horse riding is not new to Village Camps as for more than 20 years we have successfully operated a top quality riding camp in England, now based at the superb family-run Follifoot Riding Centre near York.
Our base in Andalucia is the outstanding riding centre, the Royal Center Hipica in Chiclana d la Frontera, quite close to our accommodation and the beautiful beaches just a short drive from our camp.
Summer Riding Camp | Spain | Top facilities for the programme
The prestigious and well-equipped Royal Center Hipica has outstanding facilities with spacious, modern stables, extensive paddocks and other specialist teaching areas. The set-up is ideal for the intensive lesson programme and for our campers to learn about looking after horses and stable procedures. Our groups may also relax around the campus and use the large air-conditioned restaurant and the café.
Summer Riding Camp | Spain | Professional Instruction, the horses and lessons
The Royal Centre has a large pool of ponies and horses of all types and sizes to suit young Village Camps riders. All are bred and trained to be calm and patient. The professional instructors at the riding school are qualified, well-trained and experienced. They take great pride in providing an interesting and knowledgeable daily programme so that our campers have fun developing their riding skills and knowledge of horses during their two-week stay.
Lessons are from 10.00 to 13.00 from Monday to Friday. The riders are tested, split into ability groups and introduced to their horses on the first morning. This is the start of an enjoyable but intensive two-week programme that will:
Improve their riding skills whether they are beginners or experienced riders
Teach them all about looking after horses and preparing them for riding
Explain good stable practice
Summer Riding Camp | Spain | A chance to ride along beautiful sandy beaches and friendly trails through extensive pine-forests
A very special attraction of the centre is its stunning location with wonderful riding terrain right on the doorstep. Most of the lessons use the beautifully prepared paddocks and well designed open areas at the riding school but, depending on the progress and ability of each riding group, the instructors introduce the riders to the quite beautiful surrounding Andalusian countryside.
This part of Spain is noted for its wonderful uncrowded, clean beaches and our riders will enjoy hacking or trotting through the soft white sands of the glorious 8km long Barossa beach. The horses love hacking along the shoreline through the shallow, cool blue Atlantic waters – a truly memorable experience for our riders.
As a complete contrast, the area around the camp has miles of quiet, shady trails winding through the unspoiled pine-forests – ideal riding country for the beginner with ‘galloping’ opportunities for the experienced rider. On one morning campers make an early start and have breakfast in the early morning sunshine of the forest!
