Lessons are held every weekday morning from about 09.00 through to 14.00 at the Forest of Galtres Golf Club, about 30 minutes drive from the campus. Top Teaching from an Advanced PGA Qualified Professional Instructor

Village Camps is always committed to high quality coaching standards for all its sports camps. This is nowhere more important than with its long-established golf programme where dedicated professional lessons and a patient approach encourage and motivate the aspiring young golfer. Next summer will be our 10th year working with our much admired, long-time PGA professional golf instructor, Alastair Grindlay. the new General Manager of the Forest of Galtres club and his friend and colleague, Nick Marchant, the new Club senior PGA professional. Alastair has been a well-known club professional and an Advanced PGA qualified instructor for many years. He is one of the most qualified golf professionals in the area and has more than 20 years of teaching experience in England, Germany and Spain. Nick Marchant has worked with Alastair and with young Village Camps golfers for many years and both are looking forward to another summer together. Nick is a local and it was at the 'Galtres' club where Nick began playing golf as an 11 year old. After many years as a professional working extensively with young people Nick is delighted to be the senior new professional at Forest of Galtres.

Alastair and his team have achieved notable success with the young Village Camps golfers over the many years that they have directed the golf programme. In this time our beginners invariably achieve their first ever handicaps whist experienced players usually show a dramatic improvements in their handicaps to take back home to their ‘home’ club. A few years ago, a 13-year old Village Camp golfer had the thrill of making a hole in one!

The golfers are divided into ability groups to enjoy friendly putting and chipping competitions as well as opportunities to play a full 9 or 18 holes. The highlight is the much anticipated 18-hole ‘Village Camps Championship’ on the penultimate day. Alastair and his team consistently deliver a friendly, effective programme with so many of the young golfers returning to our Golf Camp year after year.

Forest of Galtres - a perfect course for young golfers!

Forest of Galtres is a fine professionally-designed 18-hole course of 6000 metres with a par of 72. The greens are built to the specification of US Golf Association. There is a practice green, a sand trap ‘chipping area’ and an all-weather 6- bay covered driving range. Our young golfers have their own changing area and relaxation space where at the brief lunchtime break they can enjoy a drink and packed lunch before continuing the short afternoon lesson. The golfers are divided into ability groups and use all the facilities during the two-weeks with friendly putting and chipping competitions as well as opportunities to play a full 9 or 18 holes from time to time, based on ability. Golf is great fun but is also hard work and requires dedication! This is a 'must-attend' camp for those who really want to experience top instruction by leading pros playing on a superb course. Every golfer can expect to improve skills, lower his or her handicap and make significant progress over the two-week session.

Sets of clubs are available for hire at a reasonable cost for those campers who do not bring their own.

The ‘VCTV’ Project’ - A fun way to improve spoken English ONLY for campers booking other specialist camps!

This is a busy, quite different programme specially designed for those campers who decide to choose one of our main speciality programmes BUT who would like to spend some time improving their spoken English.

So we designed this completely innovative programme to encourage every participating camper to have fun practising speaking English with other campers. All the campers in the team work together on this exciting project – and acquire new TV-production skills at the same time.

The ‘VCTV Project’ is operated by a mock TV crew of campers who work closely with our counsellor team to design simple daily programmes that make a variety of short TV broadcasts. Each camper has several different roles that rotate during the two-week session including Director, programme planners, camera operators, interviewers and editors. The crew produces a daily programme that is viewed by all campers who enjoy watching news, interviews, in-depth investigations and clips. These daily programmes appear on the website for parents to view. Every “job” involves discussions and co-operation.

So, every day, each camper just has to speak ENGLISH with his or her VCTV friends! It is fun-learning - not lessons – and it really works. The campers love it!

VCTV takes place on a total of eight weekday-afternoon sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.

VCTV is designed by a TV production and editing expert working closely with our English Language Director and her qualified English teaching staff alongside other specialists.
