Under the direction of an experienced producer and working with an enthusiastic team of fellow-film-makers, every camper will create his or her own personal high quality movie. Regardless of your previous film knowledge and experience this programme will open to each participant, in simple steps, the exciting and challenging aspects of film-making.
The Film Academy programme has been devised and created with the help of the highly acclaimed Director, Edward McDougal, a talented teacher of film-making and screenwriting who has conducted film workshops worldwide.
Qualified senior instructors are always at hand to ensure that beginners as well as more advanced film students are given key instructions to put to use in their projects.
Everyone involved works on the team’s project each weekday morning and from time to time in the afternoons and the evenings. It is a combination of dedication, fun, teamwork and sheer enthusiasm. Campers are thrilled to use their energy, creative instincts and emerging technical skills to produce their own film - from start to finish.
The Film Making Process
Each camper is a member of a small group who double-up as crew for each other's projects. Using the group to help brainstorm and offer feedback each camper's personal project proceeds through carefully planned steps from initial concept right through to the final production.
The programme embraces all the essential technical know-how:script-writing
Film Campers use eager campers and staff from other programmes as their actors and extras and are able to choose from a spectacular array of camp activities and scenic locations for their movies.
These short films are shown to the entire camp in a special end-of-session ceremony. Campers will leave with their personal films on a USB key and after camp, will receive a ‘link’ to access the Village Camps Google Drive channel with all of the films from their session.
Don't be surprised if you leave camp amazed at what you accomplish with your finished film projects!
Accommodation, Excursions & Activities
Campers stay at the Village Camps owned and managed Swiss Alpine Centre. The centre has spacious, mainly en-suite bedrooms for 3-4 campers as well as lounges and recreational areas and impressive dining facilities. The campus is well situated just above the main village and close to its excellent sport and leisure facilities.
There are exciting excursions to Geneva, the lakeside town of Lausanne, a chocolate factory and the Water-Park in nearby Aigle.
There is a variety of afternoon and evening activities both in Camp and outdoors, which campers from all programmes participate together. These all camp activities are organised and supervised by Village Camp counsellors.
Further details on the excursions and on the activities available at the Leysin camp can be found on the Switzerland Overview Page.

Choose from the available specialty programme and combine it with professional tennis instruction from VC’s top coach, Christine Suard! This additional option allows those that are passionate for tennis to combine their language, art, or multi-sports morning programme with qualified afternoon tennis instruction.
Our highly qualified head-coach has developed a fantastic and innovative tennis programme which has three different categories from beginners to highly trained club players. We wanted to give the opportunity to all campers regardless of programme (Adventure excluded) to opt for an additional 3 hours of tennis instruction in the afternoons!
In the evenings, campers join their peers who have been on afternoon activities for engaging evening programmes which will, at times incorporate the whole camp and other times be age group dependent.
