Summer Camps in Austria, Canada, England, France, Portugal & Switzerland

Film Academy | Switzerland | Leysin

The Village Camps Film Academy was successfully developed in Zell am See, Austria, but proved so popular that a second Academy is now firmly established in Leysin. Under the direction of an experienced producer and working with an enthusiastic team of fellow-film-makers, every camper will create his or her own personal high quality movie.

Programme suitable for ages 10-17
" I would like to Thank You for the wonderful time that my boys had in your camp. They were very happy with all the activities from both the Film Academy and French Language camps and with the the whole organization. "

Programme Overview

The Film Academy programme has been devised and created by our highly acclaimed Director, Edward McDougal, a talented teacher of film-making and screenwriting who has conducted film workshops worldwide. Regardless of your previous film knowledge and experience this programme will open to each participant, in simple steps, the exciting and challenging aspects of film-making. A highly qualified senior instructor is always at hand to ensure that beginners through to advanced film students alike grasp key instructions to put to use in their projects.

Everyone involved in the team works on the project each weekday morning and from time to time in the afternoons and the evenings. It becomes a fascinating combination of dedication, fun, teamwork and sheer enthusiasm from the film campers who are thrilled to use their energy, creative instincts and emerging technical skills to produce a completed film - from start to finish.

The process begins with an original script before moving on to filming, editing and directing. The programme embraces all the essential technical processes including sound, lighting, special effects and production. Each camper is a member of a small group who double-up as crew for each other's projects. Using the group to help brainstorm and offer feedback each camper's personal project proceeds through carefully planned steps from initial concept right through to the final production. Camper-directors will use eager campers and staff from other programmes as their actors and extras and are able to choose from a spectacular array of camp activities and scenic locations to use in their movies. These projects will be seen by the entire camp in a special end-of-session showing where our young film makers gain so much pride from this experience and the support of their peers.

Campers will leave with their personal films on a USB key and after camp, will receive a ‘link’ to access the Village Camps Google Drive channel with all of the films from their session.

Don't be surprised if you leave camp amazed at what you accomplish with your finished film projects!

Accommodation, Excursions & Activities

Campers stay at the Village Camps' Swiss Alpine Centre. The centre has spacious, mainly en-suite bedrooms for 3-4 campers, lounges and recreational areas as well as impressive dining facilities. The campus is well situated just above the main village and close to its excellent sport and leisure facilities. There are exciting excursions to Geneva, the lakeside town of Lausanne, a chocolate factory and the Water-Park in nearby Aigle. In the afternoons and evenings, campers enjoy an exciting range of activities. Highlights are archery, tennis, hikes, mountain-climbing and beach volleyball in the afternoons and fun team competitions, International Cuisine Night, Talent Show and the Final Night Farewell Disco in the evenings.

Further details on the excursions and on the activities available at the Leysin camp can be found in the "Country Switzerland Overview Pages".

Choose your favourite specialty programme whilst combining it with professional tennis instruction from VC’s top coach, Christine Suard! This additional option allows those that are passionate for tennis to combine their language, art, or multi-sports morning programme with qualified afternoon tennis instruction which will allow campers to improve significantly at both disciplines, morning and afternoon!

We are very fortunate to be partnered with such a qualified head-coach who has developed such a fantastic and innovative tennis programme which has three different categories from beginners to highly trained club players. We therefore wanted to give the opportunity to all campers regardless of programme (Adventure excluded) to opt for an additional 3 hours of tennis instruction in the afternoons!

In the evenings, campers join their peers who have been on afternoon activities for engaging evening programmes which will, at times incorporate the whole camp and other times be age group dependent.

Certainly, a programme not to be missed for those who are interested in professional swiss tennis instruction as well as other specialty programmes!
