OUTSTANDING FACILITIES |
|
| |
The VILLAGE CAMPS Golf Camp is held at the Fota Island Golf Academy on the grounds of the Fota Island Golf Club. The Academy has over 4000 square metres of first class Irish turf to practise iron shots, plus a separate chipping green surrounded by bunkers of differing degrees of difficulty. There is a new gently undulating putting green where campers practise and enjoy serious (but fun!) competitive games. Because the short game is so important, the Academy has a new pitching area with various targets within a 100-yard range. During inclement weather there are ten covered driving bays, an indoor putting green and two large teaching rooms with the latest hi-tech video, computer systems and full complement of teaching aids!
High tech software includes analysis and training systems that give an accurate ultrasound measurement of the putting stroke –– path, rotation and alignment –– with a full breakdown and print out for each camper. As for the swing, the GASP computer system allows instructors to store the information on each individual’s swing, compare it to some of the world’s great golfers and email the analysis to each camper for future reference! All this is actually used by the instructors to measure improvements made by golfing campers. Truly amazing! |

TOP TEACHING PROS |
|
| |
Teaching professionals expected to again instruct our groups are Jamie O’Sullivan, who in his ten years as professional has been attached to the famous Irish golf courses at Portmarnock, Galway and Ballybunion. In addition there is Brian Kelleher. Brian has been teaching for seven years and is renowned for his patience and perseverance both with beginners and accomplished golfers. His expertise is the ‘‘swing,’’ the intricacies of the golf game and his simple but very effective coaching style. Lessons are held during every weekday morning and for a further ninety-minute session in the afternoon. |
