A CAMP FOR WINNERS: GAME – SET – MATCH!
TENNIS PLAY AND INSTRUCTION UNMATCHED! |
|
| |
|
|
| |
VILLAGE CAMPS challenging tennis camp in York presents a structured multi-level programme that enables every player to improve skill levels and techniques while developing a winning competitive approach to the game.
With eight grass courts (yes - grass courts) and five hard courts, players develop and polish their game under the tutelage and guidance of a top ranked Tennis Professional and his team of qualified coaches, experienced in working with young players.
The tennis camp is traditionally divided into two skill levels. Upon arrival each camper is assessed, rated and placed into the appropriate division: |

|
|
| |
Division One is intensive tennis for the serious club, school or tournament player wishing to step up the ranking ladder and play against stronger opponents. The division suits enthusiastic players who have been playing tennis for at least two years. During three hours of morning instruction, players go through a conditioning and skill development programme. The coaching staff mixes physical fitness training with routines, stroke improvement and games, varying play between the grass and hard courts to give players experience of very different surfaces.
The coaching continues in the afternoon after lunch-break with games, developing a tactical approach and strategies as well as advice on assessing opponents’ strengths and weaknesses. A special feature is the ‘SERVE & VOLLEY’ programme that addresses what is fast becoming a disappearing art. Players work on their reflexes and practice volleys, overhead game, serves and service returns until a significant improvement is made. It all adds up to an absorbing, complete programme for the really serious player whose game will undoubtedly show a marked improvement.
Division Two is perfect for the recreational player who wishes to improve his game and enjoy it more without the physical effort and serious endeavour of Division One. Coaches work with each player individually and in small groups striving to improve skill levels and enjoyment of the game by organising fun competitions and innovative. Players in this division enjoy three hours of tennis in the morning and are then free in the afternoon to join in on the many other sports and leisure activities offered by VILLAGE CAMPS. Players may move up to Division if the motivation, determination and drive are there, plus a disposition to work extra hard on improving their games. |

THE BOTTOM LINE |
|
| |
Campers appreciate being tutored by a superb coach who brings out the best in aspiring tennis players. In addition to being able to play on grass courts as well as hard courts, there are a multitude of sports and leisure facilities on campus, close to state-of-the-art accommodations and dining hall. Tennis players particularly enjoy each other’s company and afterwards there are many opportunities to make friends with young people from all over the world, whilst enjoying the visits, excursions and cultural activities in and around camp and the fascinating city of York.
Added benefit for foreign campers is the instruction in English, which will augment vocabulary and improve their ability to comprehend this important language. |
