The all-new VILLAGE CAMPS Creative Arts Programme is dedicated to developing, stimulating and inspiring creativity in the Visual Arts for youngsters at all levels of talent and expertise, from aspiring beginners to seasoned artistes. Campers are encouraged to explore, create and express themselves in a wide range of art forms under the guidance, direction and instruction of a professional art educator supported by a staff of accomplished artists.
The course is designed to spark the imagination of each camper by teaching many aspects of the art world, including visual arts building, discussions on art history, aesthetics and problem solving. Enthusiastic staff encourages artistic exploration through various art mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, print-making, and hands-on three dimensional designs. Campers paint and draw in the open air, using as subject the many historic buildings and quaint corners in York along with elegant stately country houses and gardens and magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Moors, all close to camp.
A unique visitation programme promotes the discussion of great British and International art from around the world, enabling the group to embrace cultural differences in art. The Creative Art Director selects from a range of locations including the National Portrait Gallery in York, the York Art Gallery, featuring international traveling exhibitions, the stunning and thought provoking works from the permanent and visiting exhibitions at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and, further afield, the fascinating ‘matchstick men’ Lowry Gallery in Manchester.
At the end of the course there an art reception and show is scheduled displaying individual art made by campers as well as the grand finale, the unveiling of the ever-popular Group Mural.
The VILLAGE CAMPS Creative Arts Director is Chris-Tina Fogle, a professional visual arts specializing educator with many years of experience in working with young people. Art is Chris-Tina’s profession and her passion. Widely traveled, having visited art galleries throughout the world, she is a talented artist as well as teacher, as are all members of the staff. |
