Session 4 - Day 9 (18 August, 2008)

Weekend is over -- things are returning to normal, language classes have resumed, the Multi-Activity clubs are in full swing, and the tennis campers are back on the courts.

The Spotlight story today is on the Junior Camp -- a very special camp for campers 7-9 years old. There are 18 campers enrolled in this camp for this session. They recently spent a night in the Village Camps Mountain Hut and the photo gallery contains a whole bunch of photos of that experience plus a few other pictures from around camp.

Hard to believe that this is the last week of camp!!

Junior Camp at Village Camps Switzerland

The Junior Camp is for campers aged 7-9 and carefully designed for young people who may be on their first time away from home for such an extended period (two weeks).

The campers are called the “Greens” in our colour coded scheme for age groups. They are all housed in a separate wing of our building and do ALL of their day as a group – they eat together, have the same counsellors throughout the day, and the counsellors live in the wing with the campers. The goal is to make this as much a home-like experience as possible.

The Greens do the same activities as the other campers but they are regularly redesigned for this age group – for example they do a mountain climbing activity but it is much different than the one for the older campers – they also usually do the activities as a solo group, not mixed with older campers. Occasionally they will have an activity with the Yellow group (the next age level)
