Session 4 - Day 6 (15 August, 2008)

It looks as though not enought of you kept your fingers crossed for good weather for Festival Friday. It was rainy and quite chilly throughout the day -- but do you think that put a damper on our intrepid counsellows -- of course not. They just moved all of the activities inside and went on as though that was the original plan.

You need a big room to have a "tug of war" indoors but, no problem, we have one (a big room) and we had one (a tug-of-war).

I already know what the weather was lilke for Excursion Saturday and Sunday at the Pool in Aigle. The weather man cooperated for Excursion Saturday and it was a really nice day -- lots of sun but not too hot. Sunday turned out to be a complete "flip-flop." There was rain early in the morning and temperatures were a bit to chilly to hang-out around the pool. We will have reports on both Saturday and Sunday activities posted tomorrow (I hope).

Festival Friday at Village Camps, Switzerland

Lots of fun today – even though the Friday Bar-B-Que was called off because of inclement weather (that is a nice way of saying – it was rainy and quite chilly). The lunch menu got changed from the cook-out selections (burgers, sausages, etc.) to Pizza, a frittata, and lots of salad items. Pizza is such a universal favorite with the campers that there were no complaints about the change in the menu.

After lunch, the games started. As usual the camp had been divided into two groups, the Vikings and the Mohicans – this is one of the few times that everyone in the camp is involved in the same activity. There were a number of games between the teams – and even though they had to be moved indoors, piggy-back races, pillow fights, a tug-of-war, arm wrestling, "bowling" and many others.

There were lots of activities throughout the day -- . The noise coming out of the grand salon and dining hall was a good measure of the success (once again) of Festival Day.In the evening there was a disco (again for the entire camp),
