In yesterday's post I said that we had to cancel the camp fire on Prafandaz because of rain. The weatherman did cooperate today and a large group of campers made the walk to Prafandaz. They were rewarded with toasting marshmallows, eating banana boats, and watching a magnificent sunset on Lake Geneva. There is a Spotlight story below which even has a picture and an explanation of a banana boat.
The main spotlight story is on the Dance Camp (a part of the Village Camps Multi-Activity programme. The photo gallery has pictures from Dance Camp, the campfire, some mountaing climbing, etc.
Remember it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile --
so why work extra hard??
When campers registered for Village Camps’ popular Multi-Activity Camp they were asked to pick one of three "clubs" that would be the focus of their stay at camp. The three clubs are Outdoor Adventure Club, Sports Club, and Dance Club.
With this approach campers can concentrate on certain types of activities every morning, activities that are more aligned to their interests, while equally enjoying access to a wide variety of other afternoon activities for a well rounded, fun holiday. Today we will put the spotlight on the Dance Club which is under the supervision of “Dancing Lisa.”
For 3 hours every weekday morning the campers meet in the grand salon to work on performances that will be presented to the rest of camp at various times during the session culminating with a Gala performance on our final Prom Night.
Depending on the dance, the costumes and face make-up are sometimes quite elaborate and sometimes quite simple. The focus is on the dances as well as the performance aspect of dance as an art form.
In the afternoons and evenings the campers from the Dance Camp join the other campers participating in the variety of other camp activities on offer.

Just about every group gets a chance to visit Prafandaz at least once during each session
Sometimes it is for a campfire and making banana boats or toasting marshmallows, sometimes it is a cookout, and sometimes it is just to see the magnificent sunsets over Lake Geneva. Prafandaz is a short walk (but very much uphill) from our campus and, if the cows haven't gotten there first, a wonderful place for games that require lots of open space.
(If you are not familiar with a banana boat -- it is a banana, split open, covered with chocolate, wrapped in foil and placed on the fire. -- decadent but delicious)
