9 August 2008
Time goes by very fast when you are having lots of fun. It is hard to realize that two weeks have gone by since this group of campers arrived at Village Camps, Switzerland -- but the reality is that today is Departure Day and most of the campers are heading home.
Our photo gallery today has a number of pictures from yesterday's graduation ceremony.
Thanks for visiting with us, we hope you enjoyed the pictures and stories!
After 2 weeks of incredible fun, and memories that are sure to stay with all of us a long time, it was time to pack up and leave. Some campers were up super early to be escorted down to the airport while others were able to hang out just a little longer as they waited to be picked up at camp by their parents. Mr. Phil was at the airport with his crew to be sure that everyone gets to where they are going with a minimum of difficulty.
The day was marked by sad goodbyes, tears being shed and the swapping of email addresses with promises made to keep in touch. All of us, counsellors and staff, will miss you. Till we see each other again...perhaps next year?
l'année prochaine?
nächstes Jahr?
l' anno prossimo?
Hasta el ano que viene?
Parents, we thank you for trusting us with your children and we hope that, when next summer rolls around, you will again think of Village Camps - either back with us in Switzerland or in one of our other camps in Austria, England, Ireland or France.

8 August, 2008
Today is the last full day of camp -- tomorrow is departure day -- but like everyday at Village Camps, Switzerland today was a very busy day. Language classes had their last lesson - a shorter lesson than normal with graduation exercises scheduled for 10:45 in the Grand Salon.
Tonight is Prom Night -- special dinner, talent show, presentation by the Dance Club, picking the King and Queen of the colour groups -- a fun time for everyone.
The spotlight story is on graduation and the prom. There are two gallery foldes, one on the prom activities and one showing food and food preparation from yesterday's International Night. For tomorrow's post we will have a set of graduation photos -- including class photos of all of the language classes.
Today was the last full day of Session three at Village Camps, Switzerland. Today was a chance for campers to be recognized for their achievements over the past two weeks. The language classes had a full graduation ceremony in the Grand Salon and other camps had some way of telling campers that they had done a good job. We will have a set of graduation pictures with tomorrow's post.
The afternoon was devoted to a number of activities around Leysin and, most important, packing for departure tomorrow. Campers being escorted are given instructions on where and when to meet. Banker Wendy has all their money set up in envelopes for them and Mr. Phil will be at the airport making sure that everyone gets to the right place at the right time.
Tonight is a special night - the dining room is decorated (with decorations made by counsellors and campers) and, instead of standing in line to get their food, the campers' meal is served to them by the counsellors. After the meal there is a talent show including a performance by the Dance Club and some interesting counsellor contributions - and then some dancing and picking the King and Queen of each of the colour groups. The person NOT wearing a crown in the pictures below is the counsellor in charge of that colour group.
