Session 3 - Day 11 (6 August, 2008)

6 August, 2008

We have two spotlight stories today - one on the Tennis Camp and one on yesterday evening's Disco at the Mont Blanc Palace.  We focus an extra spotlight here on two of our tennis campers who had a chance to work as "ball boys" at the European under 16 Women's Tennis Championship.

The photo gallery today has pictures from tennis camp and from the disco.

Tomorrow night is International Night and campers have been getting ready for the past few days -- making signs, flags, learning songs, cooking traditional foods, etc.  This is always one of the fun events of each session and a chance to highlight the diversity at Village Camps, Switzerland.

The food and talent is something to behold.

Tennis Camp at Village Camps, Switzerland

Three hours each day are devoted to tennis drills, lessons and play on both our covered and clay courts. The renowned California Tennis Academy under the direction of Steve Loft directs the overall programme along with top pros and highly qualified Village Camps’ counsellors. Emphasis is on conditioning, strokes, tactics & strategy, both in doubles and singles. Players are divided by age and ability, of course.

Tennis players are initially appraised and rated, and then taught at their appropriate levels. The talented tennis staff and even some top local players will be giving campers of all levels some tough matches and exercises.

Disco Night at Village Camps, Switzerland

At least once in each session the campers from Village Camps, Switzerland descend on the Mont Blanc Palace Hotel for an all-camp Disco Night.  The Hotel is just a short walk from our campus – part of the way on a lovely path through the woods.. Village Camps takes over the entire club for the evening so the campers and counsellors have no competition for space.

After dinner the campers leave camp in shifts (youngest first) and have a chance to kick up their heels and dance the night away.  They also return to campus in shifts - with the younger ones departing much earlier than the older campers.
