The latest news and photos appear at the top. Come back every day to see what's new here at "Summer Camp Europe" - Village Camps!
Daily News 16th July
The day started bright and dry...
so I went and checked on the golfers.
Some were practising putting while others were still on the driving range. Brian the pro teacher of the Fota Island Golf Academy who is working with our group each day took me round the course on a buggy to see some of the threesomes and how they were doing.
I was quite impressed with their progress and focus. The three oldest Spanish players were playing with our counsellor Jude as they have been trying to beat him since last year and were getting quite competitive. Jude managed to win again but they all had some excellent holes.
Everyone is looking forward to also watching the Open that starts tomorrow during their break and lunch period. All in all it was a perfect day for golf and about 18 degrees. The course looked wonderful and green of course!
The English group were back at camp preparing for a play they wrote and performed and it went really well. Damien was busy helping and photographing the event.
After the specialist programmes ended we went again to the BGAA Sports Centre and used the field for various team games like Ultimate Frisbee and Capture the Flag. Another group were in the hall playing badminton and volleyball.
By supper a few were ready to sleep. Usually the tempo builds up again in the last week. After supper a few staff collected the campers laundry…..2 car loads! I think a few did not separate their dirty from clean clothes and just filled the sack!
Now the smell of pop corn fills the apartments as it is Cannes Film Night…….a choice of 4 films in different lounges and a chance for all to enjoy a less active activity after another full day at the Cork Camp.
Tomorrow the riders enjoy a local equestrian show and fair and will eat lunch there. Part 2 of the Photo Challenge will take place in nearby Ballincollig in the late afternoon.
Stay tuned…..
