Session 2 - Day 1 (July 13, 2008)

13 July, 2008

 A Message From
The Camp Director

When campers first arrive at our campus in Leysin they are greeted by counsellors and directed to the Grand Salon where tables are set up for campers and parents to complete the registration process.

Campers visit the Health Centre station and leave any necessary medicines under the care of the health centre staff.  The staff will be sure that they take any medications at the proper time.

Campers visit the Bank and deposit spending money with Wendy -- they can make withdrawals every day for spending money for the day and for excursions later on in the session.

Those campers enrolled in the Language Programme (either English or French) meet with a teacher for an interview -- this helps the language staff place students at the correct level so that they will have the best experience possible.  Those enrolled in the Multi-Activity Camp also check in and get signed up for the "club" they would like - sports, adventure, or dance.

We are expecting 189 campers for this session (including several who are staying over from Session 1).  Three arrived early on Saturday and two will be arriving a bit late – on Monday

Campers are organized in "Colour Groups" according to ages and activities throughout the next two weeks will be planned with the proper age level in mind.  We will try to have pictures and news from camp every day on this web site -- we hope you will come back and view it regularly.

Thanks for visiting our web site,

Joe Rikley
Camp Director

Arrivals at the Geneva Airport

For Arrival and Departure day Village Camps has a booth at the Geneva Airport just outside of the customs area.  Campers travelling with family or travelling alone should have no trouble finding the booth and then Mr. Phil (our airport manager) and his trusted crew of helpers will get them on their way.  There are counsellors to escort campers on the train from Geneva to Aigle and then on the Aigle-Leysin cog railway up to the last Aigle stop -- just a few metres from our camp building.

Here are some pictures of the activity at the airport -- there are more in the photo gallery below.
