The latest news and photos appear at the top. Come back every day to see what's new here at "Summer Camp Europe" - Village Camps!
Daily News 7th July
After breakfast the camp split into the 3specialist programmes...
Minibus for the Golfers and Riders and English students meeting the teachers!
With the specialist programmes ending by 15.00 we had an all camp meeting and the students met all the staff and heard about some of the activities and excursions and special leadership elements of the programme. They also heard some of the rules and had a fire drill.
We wanted to take advantage of the sun so opened the tennis courts and 5-a-side indoor soccer. A good way to help everyone to get a good night’s sleep and burn off that excess energy!
After a good and hearty supper served in the local bistro (with several choices of starter and main course), we prepared for some trust and leadership games in the hall.
The counselors introduced some fun ice breakers that helped everyone to get to know each other and relax. Before lights out the campers went back to their apartments (6 + 1 counselor in each) to have time to relax and chat in the living and kitchen area before bed.
A good first day and now everyone understands the schedule and knows where to go things should run really smoothly the rest of the week leading up to our excursion on Saturday.
Counsellor Profile - David
David is the Cork Camp Director and also a Village Camps veteran.
David is british and now lives in Prague.
He is a Village Camps veteran having started the tours programme for International Schools and run many summer camp programmes in the UK in past years.
David keeps saying he is about to retire and this will be his last summer and then he shows up again!
The attractions of Ireland and the fact that it is a small camp (like one big happy family) tempted David back again.
Working with youngsters and having a lot of fun coaching sports and organising the excursions is a big attraction for David (but not spending all arrivals day at the airport!).
He has said that he wants to come back as the Golf counsellor and enjoy playing at one of the best and most beautiful Irish courses!
